New this month:
A Coach’s Perspective – by Steve Thonn
Steve has seen the game of football as a player and as a coach. His experiences have given him a unique perspective on the relationship between a player and the coach. In high school and college he had solid coaches who were dedicated Christians. As a professional athlete however, Steve saw the business side of sports and how that negatively impacted the relationship between players and coaches. Now that he’s a coach, the primary thing he tries to do is be open, fair, and honest with his players. Even though coaching is his job, he wants to create a positive working relationship with his players. And in keeping with his own priorities, he challenges Christian athletes to: 1) Be an example; 2) Don’t compromise; and 3) Build relationships.
